idea and concept

The global climate change leaves visible traces in the environment which sometimes emerge in the form of scars or devastation or simply represent the disappearance of something that has always been present. Humans struggle against this largely self-inflicted new world order and continuously try to slow this process down. The ever-shrinking glaciers in the high mountains are covered with awnings during summer and the regions which are endangered by sea flooding are equipped with new ramparts and sluices in order to protect the coast. Just as the tsunamis, the hurricanes transform the man-made environment in large stretches of land into a mishmash at one go, which makes it hard to guess what kind of function its components had to fulfill in the past. A new kind of aesthetics defined by chaos.
But also this chaos shows a certain pattern and is arranged according to principles which might not be recognizable at first glance. There even might be the possibility to draw on this pattern and to transfer the aesthetics of these traces of chaos to the structures created by man. A new order generated from chaos. As a new challenge, one could try to develop new urban structures and architectural forms which are not in contrast to but in conformity with the forces of nature which are able to further develop their potential of strength as a result of the global climate change.
The concept "Wind Tower 2016" represents a kind of skyscraper which is shaped by tsunami and hurricane masses. The building structure itself pays homage to a wind-shaped cloud which is wrapped around a monolithic core. In terms of quantum physics, this represents the imaginary transition from water vapor to solid matter. A trapped cloud in its free form, pending in the air and only fixed by the core, still demonstrating its homogeneity (resonance) to the floating streams of air. At the same time, this could fulfills the function of an airstream catalyzer due to its materialized manner and its exterior shape in order to further strengthen the airstreams floating on its surface which are finally guided to the downwind turbines integrated in the facade end.
The rectangular-shaped building core rises vertically into the sky like a monolith from a remaining island after a flood. Its significance not only lies in the function of the supporting pillar but also in the function of the main component of the development of the entire “cloud community”. Its surface covered with black photovoltaic panels is not only contradistinctive to the white Corian covering of the cloud but represents an additional energy source in addition to the wind turbines.

The project "Wind Tower 2016" thus represents a concept of unification in which the function of energy generation is not perceived as an unwanted foreign object but as an associated part integrated into the building design. In this way, its benefit can be harmonized with something that “moves and agitates”.

D.Butterlfy Resort


In an imaginary scene an untouched landscape flows under the inhabited areas and a scorching hot wind blows through. The overflowing thoughts heat up and fruits are thawed in a heat haze. The ramified conclusion at the unknown end is drowning in a ruby's charm frames a wavering mirage.


The „Desert Butterfly Resort“ is intended as an artificial oasis which can be situated in every desert landscape that leaves the nature as untouched as possible. The principal components of this facility are composed by a central structure with lobby, reception, restaurant, bar etc. as well as two surrounding levels of guest bungalows which are placed all around in the air. All these guest bungalows are shaped in the form of abstract butterflies. The butterflies are connected to the central structure by pedestrian bridges on two levels. The central structure resembles a big butterfly mother containing also the public infrastructure with lifts and stairways that allow to all butterfly levels. A bar is situated on the top floor of the butterfly mother; the underground level contains public sanitary rooms, the cuisine, stores and technical rooms as well.


Lived-in sculpture based predominantly on air, which seams to be lost in an endless sand ocean. This kind of architecture represents the ancient human assimilation into the desert. A place for imagining recreation with the possibility of working online. The resort destination can be reached very comfortable via some progresive means of transportation such as the Air Car created in the Silicon Valley.


The entire construction of D.Butterfly Resort is based on the principle of prefabricated lightweight structures. The big glass fronts should be switchable so that the solar glazing will be controled. This allows not only to control the tremendous heat and keep a pleasant room climate the whole year, but also to generate shading by dimming the glass instead of mechanical blinds or sunshades. In this way, good protection against dazzling reflections and an unobstructed view to the outside are granted as well. Protection against undesirable peeking into the interiors is also addressed in this way. The entire facility should stand for an advanced and sustainable technnology such as the utilization of renewable resources for air conditioning and lighting.

A desert represents a huge natural parametric array with always changeable scenarios. The dune shapes are freezing for a while but their appearance is modified continuously depending on the time of the day that influences the lenght of shadows. In this way it is a great experience to watch this metamorphosis taking place. This is in fact the idea behind placing a residential building in the middle of such a natural phenomenon. The entire form of the building is laid-out to enable a lot of high-flyer sights all around. The building outlines are designed in geometric shapes as a contrast to the organical forms of the dunes. The internal walls and the furniture design stand for the continuation of the organical movements appropriate to the desert environment.

Paris River Champagne Bar

The Champagne glasses move together and melt into one seamless entity just like people’s souls after Champagne tasting. The Champagne River Bar serves as a transformation of an unfathomable event into the material world in form of an organic shaped glass pavilion. The glass walls appear to be a hybrid form, capturing simultaneously the expressive essence of both liquids and solids. Here, a journey of knowledge begins with the Seine at one’s feet which, at dusk, shines in all its glory – an obvious gesture of a poet raising a toast to the city’s unmistakable skyline. It is only this moment of unlimited convergence that counts.
The interior of the River Bar is designed in a manner which enables each guest to sit at the glass front and thus to enjoy the exclusive panoramic view of the Seine. Especially for the purpose of the Champagne Bar, a table has been designed in which a holder for the Champagne bucket is already integrated. The entire interior is largely reduced to a few main objects: the Champagne table with chairs, the bar counter with bar stools and the Champagne Relief Wall.
Lighting and Colour Concept
The inner walls, the ceiling and the floor covering, all of which are coloured in white, not only serve as a neutral background for the entire furnishing in graphite gray, but also as a projection surface for illuminations. The entire facade is made of transparent glass and thus functions as a monitor of the whole inner life. Just like the sparkling pearls ascending in a Champagne glass, the LED projections are supposed to create the same effect in combination with the guests’ movements.

The "Grapevine House Concept" is based on a high utilization of the air space above the appropriate plot of land (vineyard) in connection with an irreducible demand on the available plot area. The kind of used design for the supporting column should appear in form of artificial nature, almost emerging as an unifying element between the pending building in the air and the surrounding landscape.

"Floating Nests" - Vertical Farming Concept

The project „Floating Nests“ represent an innovative loft concept in form of an artificial treetop. He should be also used as an independent unit by a community, which covered her own survive by a minimal utilization of other resources from the outside. The “Floating Nests” can be situated within a city, on the country or a see landscape. The fact is that only minimal size of constructible zone is needful. This has positive consequences not only to the environment but also assume the ability to be integrated in nearly each urban or landscape layout.

The "floating nest concept" is based on a high exploitation of the air space above the respective plot of land with the important advantage to allow almost an unrestricted panoramic view because the airspace below the treetop looms until 35 meter height.
The treetop itself consists of three compact rings with a diameter of 100 metres each, containing an mesh-type supporting structure clamped in-between on which natural vegetation can grow. These three rings are fixed on supporting columns with a height of 35 metres. Thus, the entire tree construction reaches a height of 135 metres in total. All rings are arranged at equal distances of 40 metres and are kept by supporting columns (abstracted boles).

These columns not only assume the supporting function for the treetop, but also the development function (preparation) of the whole "floating nest community". Besides the staircases, the columns comprise all necessary supply units as well as two elevators, which are moving on their outer edge towards the treetop, following the outer edge of the ring construction. This circulation around the floating nests outside the treetop in free space represents an additional adventure for each visitor (or resident). All elevator stations are connected with the floating nest levels by bridges.  

The artificial treetop not only assumes the supporting and development function for the floating nests, but will also be used as an important agricultural area for vertical farming. As a result, e.g. algae can be produced (for biopetroleum) within predefined organically shaped net constructions.

Supply and maintenance of these agricultural facilities will be ensured by moveable bridge constructions, which are placed on rails between the rings on their inner edges. An additional effect of this artificial treetop is the creation of an oasis-like environment embracing the floating nests below a transparent green screening, which enables every resident or visitor to enjoy the entire panoramic view across the landscape.

The floating nests as two loosely connected loft formations are fixed with tie rods within the treetop realm in a floating position. Each “nest” consists of 16 levels, which are shaped in the form of gigantic green leafs. These leafs are staggered on top of each other. Their natural leaf structure will be reflected in the floor segmentation as well as the wall configuration of the individual levels. In this way, the midrib of the leaves takes over the function of the longitudinal allotment corridor, the side ribs take over the function of the lateral space boundaries and side corridors respectively. All levels are developed by internal staircases, each of which is positioned on the ring axis. The levels are connected to the rings by glazed stair towers in the lower air space.

The main utilization of all nest levels is defined as a mixture of vertical farming and inhabitable loft areas. On the top floors, there will be gastronomy and shops. A part of the underground parking lot, which is situated below the entire plot area, will be available for all residents and visitors of the floating nests. 

Ecological awareness and sustainability of the whole "floating nest" concept will particularly be ensured by using geothermal energy for heating and cooling as well as by using thermal solar energy for LED lighting (including ultraviolet radiation) for the supply of all agricultural areas.
